In most cases as a crime suspect, you have the right to a public defender. A public defender is appointed by the court. As a public defender, it is my job to safeguard your interests and rights during police investigations, police hearings, detention negotiations and at a trial.
If you are found innocent, you do not have to pay any costs for your defense. If you are convicted however, you may be required to pay for all or part of your defense in relation to your financial situation.
If you are not given a public defender by the court, you can still choose to hire me privately. You will then have to pay the costs. However, if you are found innocent, the state will pay the costs of your defense.
